Who Ever Said That Size Matters?

Dare2b sponsored Microlite flies over Kilimanjaro, breaking a world record.
Take one huge mountain, you may know it, its called Kilimanjaro, then add one tincy wincey Microlite plane and then put it together with 4 not so ordinary people and you have a world record attempt sponsored by adrenalin sports brand, Dare2b.
While the rest of us were planning whether to have Cranberry or bread sauce with our Christmas dinner last year, David Barker, a businessman from Cheshire and Mark Jackson, a flying instructor from Denton were busying planning their maverick world record attempt, which simply put could go fantastically right or terribly wrong.
David, age 64, yes that’s right 64 and Mark, age 41, are both keen pilots but felt that attempting such an endeavour required the help from Richard Meredith-Hardy. Richard (who must have balls of steel) had already successfully flown over Mount Everest and more importantly owned the pimped out Microlite they would need to complete their record attempt.
After the addition of another experienced and more importantly ‘light’ pilot (essential for such a venture), Eve Jackson, the crew began several attempts before hitting the jackpot. In order to reach the 24,000ft height needed to beat the current world record the crew had to make several changes to passengers and the amount of fuel and oxygen to take on board.
Eve and Mark were the record breakers in the end, (there’s only room for 2 in that tiny plane). Living the dream, 24,000 ft above Kilimanjaro on the 19th January in a plane no bigger than the average hatchback.
Here at Dare2b we are proud to have been a part of such an exciting adventure and are just glad we’re not taking about them all in past tense! All came home safe and sound with 10 fingers and 10 toes, we know because we checked for insurance purposes.
